Framer code export: every option in 2026
Why Framer doesn't offer code export
Framer's business model is hosting. Plans are priced per site, per month, and the moment your site can live somewhere else, that recurring revenue ends. So unlike Webflow — which at least sells a limited HTML export behind its paid plans — Framer offers nothing. Upgrading from Basic to Pro to Scale buys you more pages, more CMS items, and more bandwidth, but never a download button.
What Framer doesproduce is a very exportable artifact: published Framer sites are static HTML, CSS, and JS served from a CDN. The output exists — Framer just doesn't hand it to you.
Your options, honestly compared
| Option | What you get | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Stay on Framer | The site keeps working, but you keep paying and can never leave. | $10–$30/mo, forever |
| Rebuild by hand | A developer recreates the site in code. Full control, weeks of work, animations rarely survive. | $2,000+ in dev time |
| Save pages from the browser | File → Save Page As, per page. Assets stay on Framer's CDN, links break, CMS data is lost. | Free — you get what you pay for |
| SiteDownload | Every published page as clean HTML/CSS/JS, assets downloaded and re-pathed, CMS as JSON/Markdown/MDX. | $12 one-time, per site |
Framer prices as of mid-2026, billed yearly. SiteDownload is an independent tool, not affiliated with Framer B.V.
Exporting with SiteDownload, in three steps
- 1
Paste your published URL
Open the exporter and paste your live Framer URL — custom domain or
.framer.website. The scan is free and shows everything the export will contain. - 2
Optionally unlock the CMS
Add a read-only API key from Site Settings → General to include your CMS collections as JSON, Markdown, and MDX alongside the pages.
- 3
Download and host anywhere
One payment, one ZIP. Drop it on Netlify, Vercel, or Cloudflare Pages — all of which host static sites free — and your site is live without a Framer subscription.
FAQ — Framer code export
- Does any Framer plan include code export?
No. Free, Basic, Pro, and Scale all exclude it. Code export is not a feature Framer sells at any tier.
- Will Framer's animations and interactions survive an export?
Yes. Framer ships its interactions in the JS bundles the published site serves, and those bundles are included in the export. What worked on your live site keeps working.
- Can I get React components out of Framer?
Not from a published site — Framer compiles your design to optimized static output, not editable React source. The export gives you that published output: clean HTML, CSS, and JS you can host or hand to an AI coding tool to restructure.
- What if I cancel my Framer plan after exporting?
Your exported copy is yours forever and keeps working wherever you host it. The Framer-hosted version goes down when the plan lapses, so export first, re-point DNS, then cancel.
Ready to try it?
